Noblesville Middle School Principal Dan Chapin submitted his resignation to the district’s central office Wednesday, after being hired by the Avon Community School Board earlier in the day. Chapin will remain at NMS until June 30 and will begin serving Avon Middle School South on July 1.

An agreement for Hamilton County to purchase a building that surrounds county property has been accepted. It is a deal that eventually could help move the Hamilton County Health Department out of the Government and Judicial Center and into its own building.
Hamilton County officials learned Tuesday an agreement with Noblesville Commercial Partners had been accepted for $1.75 million on a building that sits behind The Fairfield Hotel on the east side of Indiana 37 across from the Hamilton County Jail, according to Hamilton County Commissioner Steve Dillinger.
It is an 11,500-square-foot structure that sits on 4.5 acres,

Police in Fishers are trying to find who is responsible for two recent daytime burglaries that occurred in the same neighborhood.
The first burglary happened May 21 in the Thorny Ridge sub-division of Hamilton Proper. The second occurred Friday in the Chestnut Hill sub-division of Hamilton Proper.
Sgt. Gerry Hepp said officers were called to the 10600 block of Thorny Ridge Trace May 21, in which the homeowner reported that she left the house around 11 a.m. When she returned at 3:45 p.m., she discovered that someone had gotten into her home through an open bathroom window.

The Hamilton Southeastern Board of School Trustees has announced the names of two new building principals – Matt Kegley and Andrea Burke.
Kegley is currently assistant principal at HSE High School, will be the principal at Riverside School next year. Burke, a teacher at Brooks School Elementary but currently interim principal at Durbin Elementary, will be the new principal at Harrison Parkway Elementary.
“I’m really excited. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to lead what is already a great staff and student body,” said Kegley, who is in his second year at HSE.

Applebee’s in Noblesville will donate 15 percent of purchases made from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday to help a family in need.
Jeni Tolliver, a 1996 Noblesville High School graduate and Fifth Third Bank employee, suffered a heart attack and was left with a brain injury. The funds raised Thursday will help the family with her mounting medical bills and care.

Hamilton Southeastern hopes to make history Friday at the girls’ state track and field finals in Bloomington. The Royals, who boast one of the state’s top athletes in Portia Bailey, seek their best finish ever.
“The focus is to score as many points as we can,” said HSE coach Julie Alano. “Our best finish was 12th in 1992. We really think we can be in the top 10. Really, we were disappointed with our finish last season. Portia was the only girl to score last year. We’re hoping to get some other people involved.”

Five. Five remain and five have been eliminated. Included on the elimination list are the two teams ranked No. 1 and No. 2, Center Grove and Carmel.

Amelie Mauresmo held her nerve and her serve when it counted, reaching the second round of the French Open by defeating Olga Savchuk 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 in a match disrupted by rain.
