May 20th, 2008 by Richie Hall
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The 2012 Super Bowl is coming to Indianapolis. NFL owners voted Tuesday in Atlanta to award the game to Indianapolis, picking the city over Houston and Arizona. Indianapolis narrowly lost out to Dallas last year in its bid for the 2011 game. Colts owner Jim Irsay said he believed the city would go a great job hosting the NFL's biggest event. ``We can't wait to get to 2012,'' Irsay said. ``It was tough not getting it done last year, but it's all worth it right now.'' The city's bid emphasized the new $700 million retractable-roof Lucas Oil

IHSAA Sectional Softball Preview: County teams begin title quest

May 20th, 2008 by admin
Three times this season the Carmel softball team has knocked off a No. 1 ranked team. The Greyhounds have a knack for upsets but they won’t get that opportunity this week in the Class 4A sectional at Noblesville. Carmel will be the favorite to get out of a loaded field. “You have to put the favorite tag on Carmel with the streak they’re on,” said HSE’s David Cook, the coach of the 4A defending state champion Royals. “But a lot of teams could win it.”

Commentary: NASCAR still looking for female star like Patrick

May 20th, 2008 by admin
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — It was a matchup NASCAR could only dream of: Melanie Troxel and Ashley Force going head-to-head in the first all-female Funny Car elimination round. Troxel won the round, made it to the finals and ultimately claimed the title Sunday at Thunder Valley Nationals — making her the first woman in NHRA history to win in both its nitro classes. Troxel downplayed the significance of her matchup with Force, trying hard to remove gender from the historic moment. “Everybody wants to make a big story about Ashley and I running against each other,”

Don Jellison: Tough for 4A favorites to reach championship

May 20th, 2008 by admin
Noblesville, Westfield, Fishers and Zionsville certainly won’t agree, but wouldn’t it be nice for Carmel and Hamilton Southeastern to advance to Friday’s championship game of the Class 4A softball sectional being played at Noblesville? Head to head, No. 2 Carmel going against No. 9 Hamilton Southeastern. If that happens, fans will pack the park. Lots of things first must happen for a Carmel-Southeastern showdown to happen. Carmel will have to handle first-round foe Fishers and then get past a very good Noblesville team, if the Millers defeat Westfield. Hamilton Southeastern will have to defeat Zionsville in the
