The Hamilton Southeastern Schools Foundation recently announced grant winners receiving a total of $24,000 for educational programs and projects. Of 31 applications for over $61,000, 14 were selected for funding according to Executive Director Lisa Allen.
Grant recipients include:
- Anna Stumpf, Hamilton Southeastern High School – $2,000 for Fan Stand Spirit Shop. Allows DECA and Sports Marketing class to participate in year-long senior level class that runs a school-based enterprise – the school’s spirit shop.
- Jill McGrath, Amy Shipley, Julie Alano, HSE High School – $450 for FLIPping for the Future. Affords three FLIP

Noblesville Schools is hosting three informational sessions on Thursday for parents of children who will begin kindergarten in the district’s schools in August.
Kindergarten teachers will offer information on how to prepare children to be successful in kindergarten and answer questions about the program.
The one-hour sessions will begin at 10 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. All will be in the South meeting room at the Noblesville Public Library. The same topics will be covered in each session so parents need to only attend one.

Mayfest, a yearly event at Noblesvvile High School, provides students at NHS a chance to showcase their artisitic and performing art talents to the community.
A variety of bands, choirs, musicians and thespians perform free to the crowd. Sculptures, paintings and photography from the high school students were also on display to the public. Noblesville Middle School and Noblesville Intermediate School students also participated in the event by singing and dancing. The event began at 9:30 a.m. and concluded with the NHS orchestra performing at 8 p.m.

Mother’s Day is a tradition that is officially 100 years old this year. The first Mother’s Day service was celebrated May 10, 1908, in St. Andrew’s Methodist Episcopal Church in Grafton, W.Va., where Anna Jarvis began passing out carnations to each mother in the church’s congregation.

Health, safety and fitness were featured at the first-ever Hamilton County Sports Complex Health Fair Saturday, with the weekend’s best weather shining down on as many as 400 people.
The sports complex, located at 9625 E. 150th St., hosted the event to not only allow for free health screenings, child ID cards, sports camp and other health and safety-related activities, but also to showcase the new complex’s collection of businesses.

After a solid showing in the Hamilton County tourney, the Hamilton Heights boys’ golf team was poised to do some damage Saturday in the Mid-Indiana Conference meet in Kokomo.
Instead, Chippendale Golf Club continued to give the Huskies fits.

Noblesville’s Lady Millers roared into what could be a very exciting week to the end of the regular season by sweeping a pair of games at Fort Wayne Snider. Coach Mike Ramsey’s club pounded Frankton 11-2 and fought off host Snider 5-4.
The wins moved Noblesville to 14-6 on the season with games remaining this week with Harrison, North Central and Carmel before the Millers host a Class 4A sectional the following week.
