Commentary: Anger by Earnhardt fans is uncalled for

May 6th, 2008 by admin
CONCORD, N.C. (AP) — Three security guards followed Kyle Busch around Lowe’s Motor Speedway, where his safety was presumably still in danger from a victory-starved “Junior Nation” incensed over the late-race accident that cost Dale Earnhardt Jr. a victory. Grow up, folks. What happened with three laps to go Saturday night in Richmond was nothing more than hard racing, and persecuting Busch for it is hypocrisy at its worst. Sure, it’s been two long years since Earnhardt last visited Victory Lane, and the checkered flag was certainly in sight as he and Busch jostled for position

Don Jellison: Shamrocks, Royals will battle for HCC girls’ track crown tonight

May 6th, 2008 by admin
When athletes meet tonight at Fishers for the Hoosier Crossroads Conference Girls Track & Field Meet, the competition likely will not be much different than that in the Hamilton County Meet last Friday at Carmel. Except, of course, Carmel won’t be at Fishers. Carmel is not a member of the HCC. So, tonight likely will be still-another battle between county meet champion Westfield and Hamilton Southeastern, which finished a strong third at the county. Westfield won its first-ever conference championship last year by edging Hamilton Southeastern 125.5 to 108. Brownsburg was a distant third with 81 points.
