With the certainty that a new police headquarters will be needed in the near future, the city has taken initial steps to secure land to make that a reality.
The Noblesville City Council approved a resolution Tuesday which would allow city officials to move forward on a plan to acquire nearly an acre of land where a longtime bar once called home.
The Highway Bar and Grill, a former tavern on the corner of South 10th and Carbon streets, closed in February and the land is officially for sale.

Registration is open for the fifth annual Creekside Middle School Cat Race, which will take place in the Village of West Clay 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17. This 5K run/walk is a fund-raiser for the school’s athletics and activities department.

At Hamilton Southeastern High School, Kathy Schemine’s second period orchestra class will welcome Kheri Yussuf from Tanzania on Thursday. Yussuf’s visit was made possible through the local Rotary Club.
At home he is involved in teaching at a music academy – primarily tribal music. Part of the purpose of the Rotary’s GSE (Group Study Exchange) visit is for the participants to learn about their profession as it is practiced in the host country. Then they can take some best practices, knowledge and skills home to their country to help in their careers.
